This report focuses on selected major issues in designing long-term care, such as the role of the family and informal care, and mechanisms to support the family, issues of coordination among various services, human resources strategies in delivering long-term care, approaches to evaluating systems, and approaches to designing overall strategies.
On each issue, the authors present a conceptual framework for understanding the subject, reflect on the major considerations for its resolution, and provide selected examples from the experience in industrialized countries.
